my story
Hello! My name is Felicity, and I am a 26-year-old dog trainer with a passion for helping dogs thrive in their homes. That passion in me began when I had my first dog, who turned out to have severe human aggression. I had no trainers to turn to who could actually help me or give a reason why his behaviors were occurring. After rehoming Raleigh (the pup in this picture), my own training journey began. I adopted a 5-month-old Belgian Malinois, Zeva, who completely changed the trajectory of my life. Upon adopting her, she too had some major behavioral issues. I was blessed to find a trainer in Prescott, AZ who mentored me for 6 months.
Unfortunately (but fortunately), something was not sitting right with some of the methods this trainer used. Applying them myself, I saw an extremely obedient dog along with a dog who was shut down, demotivated, and unhappy. A couple of years ago, I found out I was pregnant and decided it was my one shot to find out once and for all how to create a happy, confident, motivated, AND obedient dog.
I spent the next 14 weeks working with four dogs from sunrise to sundown. Every unanswered question about my morals and values as a dog trainer was answered in the duration of this program. This does NOT mean I have it all figured out. No dog trainer should. Every single dog I meet is different, every situation is different, and every client is different. Each time I work with a new dog, they teach me something new. However, my values do not waver. I am a balanced dog trainer who believes in finding a dog's motivation, whether to avoid or indulge. I believe in finding the underlying cause of a dog's fear, anxiety, aggression, insubordination, etc. vs correcting them until the behavior is suppressed. My goal is to help owners and handlers form real bonds with their dogs based on communication, food, play, and boundaries. This will never change.
